89% of the records in my Bromley food business list have no website recorded.
This is a records check, not proof that businesses have no website. The Food Standards Agency register has no website field. I searched by company name only for limited companies. OpenStreetMap adds some website information here. Other businesses may already have websites.
Bromley is where I am based. The list covers 302 independent cafés, restaurants, pubs and takeaways in BR1 and BR2, and 270 of those records have no website recorded.
Most of the list is in the town centre. BR1 holds 178 of the 302, and 67 of those have a High Street address. BR2 holds 114, with 37 in Hayes and 5 in Keston. The last 10 are map entries with no postcode, so I cannot place them any more closely than Bromley.

Pubs and bars show the widest gap: 57 of 59 have nothing on record. Takeaways show the narrowest, with 12 of 61 recorded as having a site, and 6 of those come from map entries rather than the register. I would not read much into that difference: map entries carry a website more often than register entries do, as the last section explains.

Those six roads hold 139 of the 302, which is 46% of the list.
The limited companies
22 of the 302 are active limited companies on the Companies House register. They are the only group where I looked for a website from the company name, and I found one for 10, though one of those matches is flagged for a second look. That leaves 12 with none that I could find. For the other 280, I relied on what OpenStreetMap lists.
What this count does not tell you
A website on record is not the same as a good one. I have not tested how any of these sites look on a phone, whether they take bookings, or whether the Google profile behind them is claimed. The list only records whether a website turned up.
The Food Standards Agency register, which is where most entries come from, has no website field. The 270 records with no website recorded do not establish how many Bromley businesses have no website; that number may be lower.
Bromley is also the only one of the five lists that uses map entries. 54 of the 302 come from OpenStreetMap, which carries a website for 12 of them. On the register alone, 228 of 248 have no website on record, which is 92% rather than 89%. A venue can also appear twice, once from each source, if they spell its name differently. The register’s café and restaurant group takes in some golf and sports clubs, church cafés and halls too, so not every entry is a shop front.

These Bromley figures come from the list I built in September 2026: the Food Standards Agency hygiene register (pulled 20 September 2026), OpenStreetMap (snapshot 31 May 2026) and the Companies House register (1 September 2026). Across all five towns the same list holds 1,310 independent food and drink business records, 1,240 with no website recorded. When I looked for limited companies’ websites I ignored Facebook and Instagram pages, so a business with only one of those counts as having no website.
